The Dragon Wagon 6 Day Adventure Tour
DAY 1
The 6 Day Tour begins as the 3 Day Tour, from Cardiff the Capital City of Wales; we collect you from outside Cardiff Castle. You then travel up into the Brecon Beacons National Park. Here you will go Gorge Walking, leaping from rock to rock and into crystal clear mountain streams, climbing pounding waterfalls and feeling the exhilaration of the icy cold water on your face as you swim through pools and slide down chutes in a natural water park. Your first evening and the accommodation, The Stonecroft Inn, is an independent Hostel in Llanwrtyd Wells the smallest town in Wales. Llanwrtyd is the home of the World Bog Snorkelling Championships, the Man V Horse race and many other bizarre and exciting activities! The Hostel has an excellent menu and is in the good beer guide.
DAY 2
Day 2 sees you travelling up through the dark heart of Wales, visiting Devils Bridge and Pistyll Rhaeadr - the highest waterfall in Wales. We then arrive at Bala and our accommodation for the night – Bala Backpackers. Bala is a Welsh Speaking town so do not be surprised if you cannot understand the locals, just ask for Cwrw (beer in Welsh) and you cannot go far wrong!
DAY 3
Day 3 sees you at the Welsh White Water Centre where you can take part in a White Water Rafting trip down the river Tryweryn. This activity must be pre booked and is not included in the cost of the tour. Please contact the office for further details and feel free to check out the Tryweryn website.
Then it is on to historic Caernarfon, staying in Totters Hostel within the walls of this 13th Century Fortified Town. Once again Caernarfon is a Welsh Speaking town and the locals are very friendly people.
DAY 4
Day 4 sees you in the formidable mountains of the Snowdonia National Park where you climb to the summit of Mt Snowdon the highest Mountain in Southern Britain. There are several major routes to the Summit, not forgetting the Snowdon Mountain Railway, but our climb takes us up the Watkin Path (5-7 hour round trip), famously used by the Carry On team as the Khyber Pass in the film “Carry On Up The Khyber”. It’s then on to Braich Goch.
DAY 5
Day 5 and you travel down the Wild West coast to the rugged and awe inspiring scenery of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Here you will take part in “Coasteering”, THE West Wales Adventure sport. Using the breathtaking sea cliffs and natural rocky bays, you climb, swim, jump and traverse your way around the fantastic coastline.
Staying on your last night in Fishguard, the old lower town was used in the filming of “Under Milk Wood” as the setting for Dylan Thomas’ fantastical fishing village of “Llareggub”, or Buggerall backwards. The Hamiton Backpacker Lodge is right in the town centre where there is always something going on and you will never be short of entertainment.
DAY 6
Day 6 and you are on your way back to Cardiff calling into Carreg Cennen Castle en route, which is a 14th Century hilltop fort within the scenic beauty of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The Castle is perched high on a limestone bluff overlooking the valley of the river Cennen. Take a torch and check out the cave dungeon below.
From here you travel back and end your Adventure in Cardiff where it all began six days before.
During your tour all travel, accommodation and admissions are included in the price. Mountain Biking and White Water rafting can be booked in advance at extra cost.
